Trees in Winter

When trees are bare in winter the complexity and uniqueness of their structure and branches really shows. They are intriguing and fascinating. Many times I have photographed bare trees. Here are some of my most recent photos.

The cold blue winter sky and the brown and often bare ground attracted me to this group of trees. Maybe the black-and-white version seems more wintery to you.

Let’s take a closer look at that gorgeous specimen on the left front. Here I show a color version and two B&W options. Click an image to see it larger.

My favorite one, however, is this sycamore with its white bark against the sky sky.

  1. There is a simple and undeniable beauty about seeing a tree that’s devoid of leaves in winter months. I liked the black & white variations and would have “punched” up the contrast for a bit more dramatic effect.
